parkrun has been a key player in promoting running as an accessible participation sport to an expanding community of runners. The parkrun model of local volunteers delivering weekly runs to people of all ages and abilities in their local community fits perfectly with the Intersport philosophy of bringing sport to the people. Together we look forward to encouraging more people to get their running shoes on.
To celebrate our partnership, if you call in to any of our Irish stores and show your parkrun barcode at the till, you can receive 10% off running gear (excluding sale and promotional items). So, if you’ve had your eye on a new pair of running tights or are looking for some new running shoes, now’s the time to get them!
But remember #DFYB
With 60 Intersport stores across the Republic of Ireland, all of different shapes and sizes to fit the community they serve, 'Expert Advice' is one of our key strengths.
Whichever store you walk in to, you will be able to talk to a member of the team who is passionate about and has a good understanding of your sport and can provide you with the advice and service you need.
Intersport’s mission to bring ‘Sport to the People’, recognises our customers’ passion for sport and the essential role that the community plays within sport and physical activity. With the amazing growth of running as a way to keep fit and healthy, it is a key sporting category in our stores and our partnership with parkrun lets us support running communities at a truly local level.
We love running, we love community sport and we #loveparkrun
Here at Intersport, we support lots of different sporting events around Ireland and most, if not all of these events, rely on volunteers to make them happen.
This is another reason we love the parkrun concept – it’s the volunteers that make parkrun happen, and without them, parkrun as a whole, would not exist.
These free, weekly, timed 5k runs happen around the world and are open to everyone and they continue to be free, not just because companies like us believe in and support them, but because so many people regularly give up their time to help organise and support them every single week.
So thank you to all the parkrun event directors, run directors, course volunteers, timers, finish number collectors, cake makers, tail walkers / runners and everyone else who helps bring parkrun to life each weekend.
A big thank you also to all of you who take time out of your week to show this great event the support it deserves, by coming out and walking or running your local parkrun every Saturday morning.
